We are on Board!

07.15am: Board meeting. A mishmash of people unites round a dilapidated camper: long bearded men, women wearing miniskirts and heavy boots.The feet of a burner recovering from his hangover are hanging out of the window. The Boardmeeting is an informal gathering where the ups and downs of the Burning Man Festival are discussed and where new rules are established. It reminds of an alternative church service where every announcement is welcomed by: ‘Yeah!’ and ‘That’s right!’

Jan Kriekels and Arne Quinze are present as well and talk about our project, the progress of the timelab and the Uchronians. The burners are super enthusiastic.
In the evening we are invited for diner at the camp of the builders of ‘the temple of hope’. Anyhow we can’t complain about the food here, it’s delicious. We have a top notch cooking team. Some people don’t even want to go back home: ‘I don’t want go back, my wife can keep half of our belongings’. At 9pm it’s time for the Pre-Burn. An installation made out of our wood and that of some other creative people, will be burned. A preview for the real burn planned on the 4th of September. We’re all looking forward to it.
